How to Join

Our congregation celebrates and welcomes new friends into our community of faith. Those interested in church membership typically participate in a FPC 101 new members’ class where newcomers meet one another and learn about First Presbyterian. We receive new members in one of the following ways:

  1. Baptism and Profession of Faith: If you’ve never belonged to a church before and/or have never been baptized, you would receive this sacrament during morning worship. You would also profess your faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior and your desire to follow him as a member of our congregation.

  2. Reaffirmation of Faith: If you have been baptized and once belonged to a church, you would reaffirm your faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior and promise to be a faithful member of our congregation.

  3. Transfer of Letter: If you were on the active roll of another congregation, we would arrange for the transfer of your letter. If your former church does not practice this, we would invite you to join by a reaffirmation of faith.

In all cases, those wishing to join a Presbyterian church meet with the Session—our governing board—to be received. During a Sunday worship service, new members are introduced and make their professions and reaffirmations before the congregation. For more information please contact the church office
